What pip value means

A pip is a configured price increment. Pip value translates that movement into money for your actual position size. Larger positions create larger monetary movement per pip; smaller positions create smaller pip value.

Pip value in quote currency = Position units × Pip size

Why account currency matters

If a pair's quote currency differs from your account currency, the pip value must be converted. JPY pairs also commonly use a different pip size than non-JPY pairs. XAUUSD needs additional care because Gold CFD contract, pip and tick conventions can vary by broker.

Gold & Forex pip calculator FAQ

What is a pip in Forex?

A pip is a standardized price increment from the instrument specification. Many non-JPY Forex pairs use 0.0001, while many JPY-quoted pairs use 0.01.

How do I calculate pip value?

Multiply position units by pip size to get the quote-currency pip value, then convert that amount into the account currency when required.

How much is one pip worth for 1 standard lot?

It depends on the pair and account currency. EURUSD at 1.00 standard lot with a USD account is commonly $10 per 0.0001 pip under the standard 100,000-unit contract.

Why is pip value different for JPY pairs?

JPY-quoted pairs commonly use a 0.01 pip. Their quote-currency pip value may also need conversion into your account currency.

How is XAUUSD pip value calculated?

The calculator multiplies Gold exposure by the configured XAUUSD pip size. EdgeSync defaults XAUUSD to 1 pip = 0.10 price units and 1 tick = 0.01; verify your broker specification because Gold CFD conventions can differ.

Does account currency change pip value?

Yes when quote currency and account currency differ. The calculator uses a disclosed conversion rate and requires manual input if a reference rate is unavailable.

What is the difference between a pip and a tick?

Pip size is the trading convention used for a meaningful price increment; tick size is the minimum configured price increment. They may be equal or different.

Why can Gold pip conventions differ between brokers?

Gold CFDs are broker-defined products. Contract size, decimals, tick size and pip convention can vary, so the active specification should always be verified.
